LAURITA: Oh, girl, what a view.
LAUREN: I know.
Beautiful.
LAURITA: This is my kind of place.
Hey.
LENINA: Hi.
Welcome.
LAUREN: Hi.
LAURITA: Hi, Lenina.
LAUREN: Hi.
LENINA: Welcome, Lauren, Laurita.
We are so happy to have you.
LAUREN: Thank you for having us.
LAURITA: We are delighted to be here.
LAUREN: Right.
LENINA: So you see the lake?
LAUREN: Beautiful.
LAURITA: Ooh!
LENINA: And the house actually predates the lake.
LAURITA: Oh, wow.
LENINA: Your room will be upstairs here.
LAUREN: Nice.
LAURITA: Okay.
LENINA: So this is my husband, Scott.
SCOTT: Hi, how you doing?
LAUREN: Hi.
LENINA: He's going to show you around.
SCOTT: I'm Scott.
LAUREN: Lauren.
LAURITA: Laurita.
Nice to meet you.
SCOTT: Laurita.
Very nice to meet you, ladies.
LAURITA: Thank you.
SCOTT: Come on, let me show you guys around.
LAURITA: All right.
We are ready to see it.
SCOTT: This is our wraparound porch.
LAURITA: Wow.
SCOTT: And let me tell you a secret, those two front chairs there.
LAURITA: Yes.
SCOTT: Best place to drink coffee in the morning.
You get up a little bit early, no one's around.
You just sit out there, enjoy your coffee, look at the steam come off the lake.
LAUREN: Ooh.
SCOTT: It's wonderful.
You might see a groundhog swimming by.
LAUREN: Ooh.
LAURITA: Woo!
LAUREN: We will definitely have to do that tomorrow morning then.
LAURITA: First thing.
Yes.
LAUREN: Yeah.
SCOTT: Well, guys, let me show you around the inside.
Come on.
LAURITA: Thanks.
LAUREN: Yay!
SCOTT: Let's go inside.
Ladies first.
LAURITA: Okay.
Thank you.
LAUREN: Thank you.
SCOTT: This is the great room, and we have this big fireplace.
We have all these nice comfy chairs.
This is where people hang out and relax in the winter or on an inclement day.
LAURITA: I love it.
It looks so cozy.
LAUREN: It does.
LENINA: A lot of times we have a huge bonfire in there, and people sit in here and do puzzles and.
LAUREN: You love puzzles.
LENINA: Yeah.
LAURITA: I do love puzzles!
LENINA: Yeah, Lots of friendships are forged in this room.
LAUREN: Yeah.
LAURITA: I believe it.
SCOTT: So guys, if we good, go to your left here.
Let me take you on a little more of the tour here.
LENINA: Scott and I looked at bed and breakfasts all over the country, and when we came to Deep Creek, the Lake Pointe Inn was something very special and kind of magical.
And the energy in Deep Creek is really relaxing.
This is where you come to unwind.
We have canoes and kayaks and even paddleboards.
We have all kinds of spaces where you can just sit by yourself, and it's wonderful to be able to do that.
GEORGE: So we're located on the shores of Deep Creek Lake, but if you want to drop some mail here, that will be called McHenry, Maryland.
Named after James McHenry, one of two Maryland signers of the US Constitution.
McHenry came here and bought land to establish a farming estate.
Fast-forward to 1994, Linda and I, my wife, got in our canoe, paddled up and said, "This place should be a small inn."
So we renovated the old house into the Lake Pointe Inn, and we owned it for 20 years.
Scott and Lenina came to the Lake Pointe Inn as guests.
They were smitten with the Lake Pointe Inn, and we sold the inn.
The rest is history.
It has continued to thrive, attract oodles of repeat guests as it always did, and continue as a destination at Deep Creek Lake like no other.
LENINA: I wanted to tell you about our welcome board.
LAURITA: Oh, how nice.
LAUREN: Nice.
LENINA: So this tells you which room you're in, and we have visitors here that have been here 61... LAURITA: 61, wow.
LENINA: I know.
60, isn't that crazy?
LAURITA: This is going to be a good time.
SCOTT: So do you want to go up to your room?
LAURITA: Okay.
LAUREN: Here's our room.
LAURITA: I love it.
LAUREN: Oh.
LAURITA: Ooh!
LAUREN: This is so cute.
Very nice.
LAURITA: I like it.
LAUREN: Elephants.
We've been seeing elephants every single place that we've gone, and we love them.
LAURITA: Ooh, ooh, ooh.
Got to learn how to make these with some towels.
LAUREN: Right?
LAURITA: At some point.
LAUREN: I really like the little fireplace because you know I get cold.
LAURITA: I like the tub too.
This is nice.
LAUREN: This is such a cute little bed and breakfast.
LAURITA: This is cute.
LAUREN: Everybody has been so sweet, so nice.
LAURITA: The staff is amazing.
LAUREN: So great.
We will 100% be back.
LAURITA: I am sitting on one of the many swings at Lake Pointe.
(birds chirping) It's just peaceful out here.
The sounds that you hear are basically birds and boats, but it's beautiful and peaceful and it's given me a lot of joy today.
