We started it back in 2015, my senior year of high school, and we started collecting prom dresses at the time, not really knowing what it would turn into.
And then 2016, we became an official nonprofit.
This is our second year in the setup here where people are coming to us rather than doing events.
We charge $10 for an appointment which pays for the heat of our building, and then once they get here, the dresses are all free.
They can.
They can keep it.
And most teens like keep it.
Please tell their first year of college.
And then we see a lot of people donating it.
Back when we were just kind of chatting and I was like, I wonder if people run into the issue where like prom dresses are just too expensive because I know I borrowed one.
We got one from a garage sale.
Like, you know, it just adds up.
Just kind of said, why don't we start collecting and seeing, like, if we can kind of help people, Everyone finds a dress.
I think so far this year.
Of all the appointments we've had, which is probably well over 50, only three people haven't found one.
And unless people show up to their appointment, which is really nice.
So it's yeah, it's kind of a win win for everybody.
We've had schools that primarily have underserved teens, like in way northern Minnesota, close to the Canadian border that have reached out.
They've actually brought a bus down here of their juniors and seniors.
We're able to make sure all those teens can go to prom.
