Hello.
Hi.
What’s going on?
I’m worried about my bills, and I’m just worried about getting the job.
Don’t stop at that one application.
You just keep putting in more.
What if it don’t happen if I get the job?
Or get a job?
Um, then you just gotta keep applying to different places.
There’s always someone hiring.
You just have to, you gotta keep looking.
Okay.
Um, still, you know, I’m still afraid of riding the metro by myself.
I know you are.
Should I be worried about it?
Can you tell you not to worry?
Because you are going to worry.
But don’t let it overtake you.
What’s going on Daron?
How’ve you been buddy?
Good.
It’s been a minute, huh?
Yeah.
Well, how can we how can we help you?
Do you have your resume online?
Mm-hmm.
So you do?
You’re prepared.
Yeah.
Tell me about your work experience before.
Where did you work?
Hmm, I used to work at the baseball stadium.
At Nats stadium.
Mm-hmm.
Okay, do you have that on here or no?
No.
Because you have River Terrace and you have Matthews Memorial Baptist Church.
Mm-hmm.
So you did work at Nats stadium?
Yep.
So we need to update that.
Good afternoon Daron.
Why should we hire you for this position?
Mm, because I can get along with other other people and get along with the supervisors.
Okay.
Getting along.
Next steps.
Let’s go into next steps.
Okay.
So you want this job, right?
Mm-hmm.
What are some things that you want to do?
Mm.
Like walk around the stores and ask for Visit stores right?
Yep.
Hello.
Yes.
Um I have a question.
Yes.
Is y’all hiring right now?
Uh, no we’re not.
Okay.
You all hiring?
Are we hiring?
Yes.
Unfortunately not.
I just hired someone a couple weeks ago.
They’re not hiring right now.
Alright.
So let’s go to the next store.
Yeah, there’s a barcode right here that you can scan.
That’s all that’s hiring.
Text Five and Below or 24, 24, 24.
Where could you go?
To apply?
Okay.
So just go to Lids.com.
- Mm-hmm.
- Then you go to careers.
Click the link.
And then you’ll just type in Silver Spring right there.
And then a pop up with all the job listings available.
So the guy was saying, we can go online and then you just fill out the application right there.
But they’re not hiring.
He’s not hiring right now.
He’s hiring after the end of this month.
But when they start, like hiring more people, then, then we can come back and do it.
I think it’s hard for me to get a job.
When the store is telling me that they’re not hiring, I feel disappointed.
When I’m alone, I feel like somebody is stepping on my chest.
But I like to be around a lot of people.
What’s up?
Bridges Center.
Have I, 107.
I gotta show this to my kids.
They don’t think I know Daron.
We have the volunteering at Capital Food Bank.
So you guys are doing a phenomenal job in making sure the folks in your community get the food that they deserve and actually, that they need.
Today you’re going to be doing some sorting for us around the belt.
Asher is going to be out there assisting you and letting you know what to do out there.
Are you ready?
Yeah.
Yeah.
All right.
When I volunteer, it makes me proud.
Some of these are dented.
Because I like to be around friends and getting the job done.
It seemed like y’all pretty much did more than half Do you want a job, man?
What you need, man?
What you need?
I do.
I do.
I know it’s important to ride the metro is to get back and forth to work and go see my mom.
So let’s try and think about what we can do to get back on that train.
Sometimes we have to overcome those fears.
All you gotta do is make that first step.
