Christine and John tour a 4-bedroom, 2-bath unit in the Beverly Court co-op building, right in the heart of DC's Adams Morgan neighborhood. The building dates to 1915 and has plenty of historic charm. High ceilings, arches, a dumbwaiter in the kitchen, and a primary suite bathroom a clawfoot tub and hammered copper sink give this home a "Great Gatsby kind of feel" according to Christine.

CHRISTINE: I feel like I've just arrived at summer camp.
JOHN: Yeah, this feels like a resort.
DEIRDRE: It is kind of like a resort.
You're in the Truro neighborhood in Annandale.
It's an established community with a lot of mid-century modern homes and this is a typical one.
One level living, clean lines, and large picture windows that you can just bring the nature in.
Not a whole lot of homes go on sale in this neighborhood because people love living here.
CHRISTINE: Well, I can't wait to see inside.
JOHN: All right.
DEIRDRE: All right, let's go.
JOHN: Let's do it.
CHRISTINE: Okay.
JOHN: Oh, I like it already.
CHRISTINE: Well, I think we know what the star of this home is.
JOHN: Those windows, that view.
CHRISTINE: Exactly.
JOHN: They just frame those woods... CHRISTINE: Mm-hmm.
JOHN: So perfectly.
CHRISTINE: I think you just feel this immediate like, ah... JOHN: Totally.
CHRISTINE: As soon as you walk in.
JOHN: Yeah, and, this great vaulted ceiling with the center beam.
CHRISTINE: And, you know, this ceiling is probably tongue and groove pine, but they painted it white for... JOHN: Lightens up the space.
CHRISTINE: Exactly.
New flooring.
JOHN: Yup.
CHRISTINE: These touches that they've done brings it right up to a contemporary feel today.
But, I gotta try this, okay?
This isn't your wood burning fireplace.
JOHN: This is not, but it's kinda cool.
CHRISTINE: But still, I've got to... (beeps) Ooh.
JOHN: Oh, look at that.
CHRISTINE: Nice.
Okay, so do you notice something?
JOHN: The deck didn't convey to this house.
CHRISTINE: I know, it's BYOD, bring your own deck.
But standing here, you know, this is really a spacious area for a dining room.
JOHN: Yeah, so far I like the proportions of these rooms.
They're just right... CHRISTINE: Yeah.
JOHN: Big enough.
CHRISTINE: Well, I feel they're kinda spacious.
Well, speaking of not being spacious this kitchen is small.
JOHN: But look, we both fit, you know.
CHRISTINE: Okay, all right... JOHN: Mm-hmm.
CHRISTINE: I'll give you that.
But, I'm just saying, look it, I mean, you can't do both at the same time.
JOHN: Well, you don't bake or do dishes, so, you know... CHRISTINE: Oh wait, so this is, this is a good kitchen for me.
JOHN: It's perfect for you.
And, you know, uh, you didn't even notice that you're resting against a gorgeous sink.
CHRISTINE: Oh!
You know I love these farm sinks.
JOHN: And a kitchen window.
CHRISTINE: Okay, so I guess this kitchen is for me.
JOHN: See, you're a convert.
So, yeah, nice, uh, kitchen counters, right?
CHRISTINE: I do like this white quartz with the white cabinets.
JOHN: And, this is coming from a cook here... CHRISTINE: Yeah.
JOHN: It has plenty of counter space and has everything that you need.
CHRISTINE: All right.
JOHN: Little, uh, breakfast area.
CHRISTINE: Nice.
JOHN: Let's head downstairs.
CHRISTINE: Oh.
JOHN: Ooh, this is nice and open.
CHRISTINE: Boy, this does not feel like a basement at all.
JOHN: It surely does not.
CHRISTINE: Okay.
So, over here, wood burning fireplace.
JOHN: Love it.
CHRISTINE: And, nice... JOHN: Yeah.
CHRISTINE: Tile work.
JOHN: And I also like that they continued these floors down here too.
CHRISTINE: Mm-hmm.
JOHN: Nice continuity throughout the house.
And you have two more of these windows like the ones upstairs that look out... CHRISTINE: Mm-hmm.
JOHN: Into the back where there's a little patio.
CHRISTINE: The view is fabulous.
JOHN: Yeah.
And then, this big area may be like... CHRISTINE: Oh, perfect for a pool table, gaming area.
JOHN: I dig it.
All right, over here we have just a little room under the stairs, perfect for a little office.
CHRISTINE: All right, I'm gonna check out this room.
You know John, it's long.
I would probably use it as an exercise room with all the equipment.
JOHN: Yeah, it'd be great for a treadmill in there.
CHRISTINE: Mm-hmm.
JOHN: Okay.
Hey.
CHRISTINE: Oh, nice.
JOHN: We have a full bath.
Brand spanking new.
CHRISTINE: Yeah.
JOHN: And I like the tones, it goes with the rest of the house.
CHRISTINE: Yeah.
JOHN: Nicely done.
And then, we have what could be a bedroom.
CHRISTINE: Nice.
JOHN: They fit a lot into this space down here.
Okay, well that was a dynamite lower space.
CHRISTINE: Mm-hmm.
JOHN: Hey, and look at this.
Look who I am.
I'm Greg Brady.
CHRISTINE: Oh my gosh, yes, you're Johnny Bravo.
JOHN: Come on, Jan, let's go.
CHRISTINE: Oh, why do I have to be Jan?
JOHN: Well, you, you could be like... CHRISTINE: Oh yes, "Marsha, Marsha, Marsha."
JOHN: All right, Tina.
CHRISTINE: Okay.
JOHN: I think to the last portion of this house.
CHRISTINE: Mm-hmm.
All right, so I have a bedroom here.
Not huge, but the space works.
JOHN: Oh, that's kinda uncanny 'cause I have a little bedroom.
CHRISTINE: I think they're twins.
JOHN: They're mirror images there.
CHRISTINE: Okay.
JOHN: And... CHRISTINE: All right, full bath on this floor, really great remodel.
And, the accent piece in the middle.
JOHN: You like glass tile.
CHRISTINE: Mm-hmm.
So, we're walking down like, a hallway that leads to... JOHN: The primary bedroom.
CHRISTINE: And a great view.
JOHN: Well, that's, you know, why you're buying this house... CHRISTINE: Mm-hmm.
JOHN: Right, big portion of it.
CHRISTINE: Right.
JOHN: So... CHRISTINE: I'm guessing... JOHN: Yup, oh, nice.
CHRISTINE: Wow.
JOHN: Every primary suite has to have a nice bathroom.
This one's not big... CHRISTINE: But... JOHN: But it sure has nice finishes.
CHRISTINE: They have done a great job on all the bathrooms in this house.
JOHN: Yeah, this is very handsome.
CHRISTINE: Mm-hmm.
JOHN: This house knocked my socks off from top to bottom.
CHRISTINE: I think you're ready to sign the dotted line.
JOHN: Well let's try to guess the price first.
CHRISTINE: Hey, enjoying the view?
DEIRDRE: Hey, guys.
I am enjoying the view.
So what'd you think?
CHRISTINE: Well, I think John is ready to buy this place right now.
JOHN: I love this house.
I could see myself in this particular house.
CHRISTINE: Just some of the touches, the flooring, you know, even painting the ceilings just really made this place feel contemporary and modern.
DEIRDRE: Exactly.
And I love that they kept the overall feel... JOHN: Oh, yes.
DEIRDRE: But then made it updated.
JOHN: Well... CHRISTINE: Exactly.
JOHN: I'm sure it was groovy in the '70s and it's groovy now, you know.
This is timeless.
DEIRDRE: It is, it is.
JOHN: Yeah.
CHRISTINE: Walking up, it looks deceptively small because when you get in here, there's a lot of space.
DEIRDRE: The high ceilings really open... JOHN: Mm-hmm.
DEIRDRE: Up the space and you have got all the big... CHRISTINE: Exactly.
DEIRDRE: Windows letting all the light in.
JOHN: This is why you buy this house.
DEIRDRE: This is it.
And this is one of the features of mid-century modern homes.
CHRISTINE: I do see one thing that's missing looking out this window, a deck.
JOHN: It's a must have for this house.
CHRISTINE: Oh, definitely.
JOHN: And, since there's an HOA, would you have to go through the HOA to get that approved, or?
DEIRDRE: Yes.
CHRISTINE: Speaking of HOA, what are some of the amenities?
DEIRDRE: They've got a clubhouse, a pool, tennis courts.
CHRISTINE: What is the fee?
DEIRDRE: $210 per year.
JOHN: Oh.
CHRISTINE: Per year?
DEIRDRE: But then you have to pay another $500 something for the amenities.
JOHN: Bargain.
DEIRDRE: Mm-hmm.
So, let's talk about the stats.
Four bedrooms, three full baths, 2828 square foot, built in 1972.
Acreage is 0.28.
Two car garage.
CHRISTINE: I'm gonna come in at a listing price of $900,000.
DEIRDRE: Okay.
JOHN: I'm going to give you a guess of $825,000.
CHRISTINE: Ooh.
DEIRDRE: Okay, very good.
The listing price is $849,900.
CHRISTINE: Oh.
JOHN: Oh.
DEIRDRE: Congratulations, John.
JOHN: Thank you for that.
I... DEIRDRE: You're the winner.
JOHN: I win the house, it's the best gift I've ever been given... CHRISTINE: I, I don't... JOHN: On this show.
CHRISTINE: I, I don't think you won the house.
JOHN: I invite you all to the party on my deck... CHRISTINE: No.
JOHN: Which will be next week.
CHRISTINE: You didn't win the house.
